178 days of skiing, canoeing and cycling - Expedition Akor Week 27

The team of Expedition Akor is nearing ever closer to the end of their monumental journey. They now predict that they will reach their finish line by November 9th.

In the past week, they have crossed the dividing line separating the vast Arctic watershed from the Atlantic watershed - where they have been since the beginning of the expedition. Now, when they see water, it no longer flows north but east! This is a very symbolic step for our adventurers.

Another pinnacle point of progress has been made; they can see the US across the water when cycling. In 178 days of skiing, canoeing and cycling, they have finally reached the American border. They are closer than ever to calling their mission complete!

They recently left from the vicinity of Thunder Bay, where they slept at the home of a friend of Etienne's mother: they would like to warmly thank Solange for her outstanding welcome!

Following their visit to the statue of Canadian hero Terry Fox, located on the outskirts of Thunder Bay, they left for several days that proved to be very taxing on the quadriceps.

The road along Lake Superior was extremely steep at times. Nicolas admitted that, frankly, they don't really like pedalling on all those hills. In the circumstances, they could not ride 125 kilometres a day as they usually do: they rode 100 kilometres instead, sometimes a little less.

Aside from the hills, the weather has not been giving the team much of a break either. It is freezing! The sky has snowed on their heads, while, at night, the ground freezes. They didn't anticipate that it would be below freezing at times, but spirits remain high as they are approaching so close to the finish line!
