I have always been a sportswoman from a young age. I practiced several team sports to move towards triathlon at the age of 12, a sport that I practiced for 7 years and which allowed me to discover myself as an athlete. I found my way more through running. Over the years, I have run in road racing, athletics, cross-country to drift towards obstacle courses at the age of 20. I quickly performed well in sport and more in long distances. At the end of 2018, I decided to specialize more in trail running after my participation in Bromont Ultra, and since then I discovered a passion for trail running. 2019 was an exceptional year for me becoming Canadian champion in ultra trail and winning the Bourbon Trail during the Grand Raid of Reunion. I discovered myself a lot, especially in the last year, and I can't wait to go even further, to surpass myself, to discover the world!
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU EVERY DAY TO TRAIN?
Going beyond yourself. Physically, mentally, emotionally. Through the discovery and adventure that trail running brings, I explore the unknown, I go to the end of myself, I discover myself.
DO YOU HAVE A PERSON WHO INSPIRES YOU?
I don't have an idol, but there are certainly athletes who inspire me, including Courtney Dauwalter, a woman always smiling, humble and who accomplishes great things, who push the limits.
WHAT ARE YOUR TIPS FOR NOT LOSING ENERGY DURING AN ULTRA TRAIL?
Have studied the route before the race, know where the more difficult sections are, where the food is.
Have the required equipment and adapted to the race in which you participate, as much in terms of clothing, shoes, equipment, food.
Be rested before the race. Have an intelligent and specific training before D-Day
Make sure you have hydration and a stable diet throughout the race as needed.
WHAT IS YOUR BEST MEMORY OF RACING
I still consider myself new to the sport, I explore a lot and I can't wait to discover even more wonderful places, to have enriching experiences, and moments that make us grow.
Compared to what I have experienced now, the Grand Raid of Reunion is at the top. As much as the whole trip with the Warriors of the Grand Raid at La Clinique du Coureur, the departure with thousands of people, the night in the mountains (Marla was magic), the dawn of the rise of the Maïdo, all the people on the course encouraging or helping me during the refreshments and arrival at the Stade de la Redoute, stage of deliverance.
WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU LIKE TO DO AFTER A RACE?
After I regain my senses a little, wash myself and eat a good meal with friends and family, I like to take a moment of relaxation, meditation to come back to the experience that I lived.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC TO EXCEL IN TRAINING?
I don’t listen to music when I’m in the mountains, because the sounds of nature are music to my ears. On the other hand, if I run on the road or if I am indoors, I like Eminem or NF.
