WHAT MOTIVATES YOU EVERY DAY TO TRAIN?
In the long run, I want to walk away from running (in the professional sense) knowing that I did the utmost to achieve my potential. I don't want to regret not working hard during these formidable years of my running life.
DO YOU HAVE A PERSON WHO INSPIRES YOU?
Deena Kastor has been someone I aim to emulate. Besides being incredibly fast as the American marathon record holder, she has shown her immense ability to practice mindfulness, mental toughness and positivity. I've made it a point to adopt a lot of these philosophies to my own mental training and the performance benefits are undeniable.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE NUTRITION TIP TO SHARE ?
Respect the 30min window after a workout and fuel appropriately. You will recover so much better and achieve so much more!
WHAT IS YOUR BEST RACING MEMORY?
Winning the Canadian Olympic Trials marathon in 2019 and having my husband/coach there at the finish line. It was a massive personal best and secured my spot for the Tokyo 2020/2021 Olympics. Everything fell into place on the day when it counted the most. I felt so proud I could get this win for my team of supporters around me who have encouraged me every step of the way. We did it!
WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU LIKE TO DO AFTER A COMPETITION?
Relax and eat some good food, especially some yummy dessert!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC TO SURPASS YOURSELF IN TRAINING?
I have a lot of music genres that motivate me so it's often what's in my head at the time. Could be T-Swift, Biebs, Eminem, Drake . . . the list goes on:)
