Näak Ambassador Dominika Jamnicky

Professional Triathlete

CANADA, ON

« Be the best version of you. »

Hi I'm Dominika, I am a 28 year old elite level triathlete who has been fortunate enough to represent Canada at the Commonwealth Games, World Championships, and World Relay Championships. My life has revolved around training and growing as an athlete and teammate. I have progressed to become a national team athlete and a junior development coach in the sport.

The highlight of my athletic career was being selected to represent Canada at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in my country of birth, Australia. This experience helped me grow as an athlete and individual and was extremely sentimental.

My future plans in competition: is to represent Canada at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU EVERY DAY TO TRAIN?

My motivation is to become something bigger than myself, to push myself to be the best person I can be and support the development of Canadian athletes at all stages.

DO YOU HAVE A PERSON WHO INSPIRES YOU?

My mother! She competed in the 2000 Summer Olympic Games on the Australian handball team. I was 8 years old when my mother competed in Sydney, and I remember to this day, in awe, watching her compete. I completely fell in love with sports!

Find a formula that works for you. It's about trying different things out and creating a custom routine that fits your day to day life.

WHAT IS YOUR BEST RACING MEMORY?

My first triathlon when I was 12 years old. It only took one race for me to completely fall in love with the sport. I was not only drawn to the competition, but also to the lifestyle and friendly culture of the triathlon community. There was a supportive attitude between competitors and spectators that resonated with me.
