ACCOMPLISHMENTS
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU EVERY DAY TO TRAIN?
Progression. The opportunity to improve myself both physically and mentally each day.
DO YOU HAVE A PERSON WHO INSPIRES YOU?
My spouse is a daily source of inspiration. She helps me focus on the essentials such as my well-being between work and sport and becoming a better person.
WHAT ARE YOUR TIPS FOR NOT LOSING ENERGY DURING your races?
The tip I would have to give to avoid a drop in energy during the marathon is to plan the glycemic preparation in advance. Personally, I start a glycemic overload three days before the event by greatly increasing the proportion of carbohydrates in my diet. Before departure, I also eat a good meal rich in carbohydrates (oatmeal with a banana, peanut butter and maple syrup) which has already been tested in advance before large workouts. Water can also be replaced with juice or an energy drink. During the race, I ingest gels and/or energy drinks at constant intervals before I even feel a drop in energy.
WHAT IS YOUR BEST RACING MEMORY?
My best memory of running was during the 2018 Montreal Marathon. It was my first marathon which was also in my city of residence. I was touched to see how many friends and family members surprised me on the course to encourage me. Their presence allowed me to just relax and to do my best, regardless of the outcome.
WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU LIKE TO DO AFTER A RACE?
Check my final race time! Afterwards, definitely eat.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC TO EXCEL IN TRAINING?
Remember The Name, Fort Minor.
What is your favourite Näak product?
The Sea Chocolate Ultra Energy Bars! It is convenient to carry and I am fond of the salty and chocolatey taste.
